Laughing in Canada

The Canadian Press has a story on Samantha Bee, everyone's fave Canadian Daily Show correspondent:
Coverage of Canada has increased since Bee's arrival in 2003, including a report on a recent leak of the new Harry Potter book in Vancouver.

"The audience is ever-widening in Canada and you have to be cognizant of that," she said. "You have to give a little shout-out to Canada every once in a while.

"A lot of funny stuff happens in Canada."
On a related note, Lewis Black is in Canada for a Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. And his blood pressure is just fine, thank you very much.

On a note related to that related note: Just For Laughs Gags, a television show on Canada's CBC and Comedy Network, has taken the Doucheblog award for Most Obnoxious Laugh Track away from its previously holder, That 70s Show. The latter manages to convince you that its the funniest show on television since an explosion of giggles follows almost every spoken sentence, while the former makes you feel like you're sitting next to the drunken group of over-jovial imbeciles at the table next to yours.

To be quite honest, I did not like Samantha Bee at first. I couldn't pinpoint what it was that I didn't like, I just didn't find her amusing.

But as time went on she grew on me. I don't know if she got funnier or if I just got wise to her style. But I do quite enjoy her now.
