Rachel Marsden, Canada's most worthless political columnist
Yes, more worthless than Licia Corbella and Paul Jackson.
I'm a bit late on the take, but her latest column is the most worthless (yes, I'm making it a point to repeat that word as often as possible in the context of this post) piece of writing I've wasted my time on in a while.
Marsden serves up the biggest heap of drudgery possible, complete with re-heated Republican talking points, all cooked up with as little imagination as possible. It's as if someone took Ann Coulter and stuck a Canadian flag up her ass before surgically removing her amygdala, leaving us with a less-feisty, less-exciting forgery of the aforementioned propagandist.
Don't go through the trouble of reading the doze-inducing piece; here are some of Ms. Marsden's arguments, propositions, and points, quickly summarized:
-Howard Dean is CRAZY!
-Everyone else, including wacky leftist Hilary Clinton, appears sane next to Dean, because Dean is INSANE!
-Bush won by 3 million votes. So, you can't criticize him while claiming to be sane.
-Democrat Patti Murray loves Osama bin Laden.
-Ted Kennedy (remember Chappaquiddick!) collaborates with terrorists, or at least shares their political ideology
-Dean assaulted "Middle America" when he said that a lot of Republicans "have never made an honest living in their lives". (Note how in Marsden's world, Middle America = Republican. Criticize a Republican politician, and you're criticizing Middle America; every man, woman and child who doesn't dine with Bush or receive welfare should be offended by Dean's criticisms of the Republican Party, believes Marsden.)
-John Kerry supporters are were mostly welfare recipients
-Don't forget how crazy Howard Dean is
-Hillary Clinton is a "radical leftist"
-Hillary Clinton has moved to the right to hide her ugly leftist truth
-Hillary Clinton is one of the most liberal humans in America
-John Kerry's grades show that he's dumber than George W. Bush!
Amazing, huh? It's like re-living the ugliest memories of American political campaigns of the recent past, seemingly copy-and-pasted RNC talking points and all, and the Post is charging me for it.
But then again, why spend hours on radical-right hangouts like Free Republic or Free Dominion when you can have all of the usual bombastically-partisan political spewings sploshed in your face in one quick sitting? I guess Marsden is good for something, if only to summarize all the stupidity in the political world in less time than it takes to eat an apple.
What does it take to be a political columnist for a huge national newspaper? There are are some great columnists in Canada, but judging from the National Post's newest addition, all that is needed is a generous amount of partisan Coulteresque douchebaggery. Judging by Marsden's half-assed "work" (as well as things like this, creativity, intelligence or writing ability sometimes has little to do with it.
Give me one of those columnist jobs. Hell, I'll attack anything and anyone my corporate overlords tell me to -- Marsden has shown me how easy it is to get paid. Piece together a bunch of bullshit from Republican National Committee talking points, throw in some of your own inane blather, and *BAM*, a twice-weekly National Post column.
Oh, and all the 'Howard Dean is crazy' talk? Freud called that projection. As Marsden unconsciously proves, that's one theory ol' Sigmund was definitely right about.

Yeah I read that article too in the Post. Douchebaggery indeed.
Check Out Marsden's Interesting History/Involement with the CPC's Albatross Gurman Grewal...

Is this the same Rachel Marsden that inspired the movie "Swim Couch"? That Marsden stalked and then accused a Simon Fraser University athletics coach of sexual assault. The accusation was proved to be an intentional lie and Marsden was charged with public mischief. Her false testimony almost ruined the blameless coach, and greatly embarrassed the University. If this is the same Marsden, she is a practiced liar and evil piece of work. Marsden is known to use different names to confuse her identity. When she worked for Grewel she used a name other than Marsden. Standards, although never high, have slipped at the National Post... the inane Eckler, the iniquitous Marsden...what next,a legal column by Karla Homolka?
kerry, rachel marsden was never convicted of anything. she walked from one single charge...with a discharge. no conviction, no record. i'd watch it if i were you. marsden has a history of suing the ass off people who have posted comments like yours on the internet, especially under their real names.
the swim coach in the marsden case was never cleared of harassing marsden and she was awarded a $12,000 settlement by the university for her grief. the coach was merely reinstated on the grounds that there were 'technical errors in the process that led to his dismissal' under threat of judicial review.
A lot of her comments are completely contradictory... for example:
On June 18, 2005, in her article entitled "Finally, a Smart Regulation", she states:
"Look, if people want to do crack, snort cocaine or stick their head under the cheeseburger faucet, it shouldn't be the government's, or anyone else's, business."
While on Sep 9, 2002, in her article entitled "Oh, Cannabis! : Canada going up in smoke?", she states:
"Canadian senators did the unimaginable this week when they tabled a report proposing that marijuana be legalized, taxed for government profit, and sold to anyone over the age of sixteen. Personally, I think the members of the Senate Special Committee on Illegal Drugs should put down the bong and slowly step away."
Talk about dichotomy.
Hey Rachel, is that you?
Actually Rachel has a history of sending bogus lawyer's letters to people who tell the truth about her.
Just ask "Franksters", the Frank Magazine board. Even told them the Mounties were investigating the board. The site's moderator called Marsden's lawyer and - surprise! surprise! - learned that he never authored the letter and was completely unaware of Marsden's latest antics.
And you gotta hand it to Rachel "Missy Tee" Marsden. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Rachel Marsden is indeed the same young woman who nearly cost Liam Donnelly his job as swim coach at Simon Fraser University. I was an instructor there at the time (1995, I believe) and spoke to Liam once on the phone on an unrelated matter. He was briefly dismissed from his job--so compelling were Marsden's accusations. Subsequently, Donnelly produced emails from Marsden which were obvious attempts to lure him to a tryst. She was the one pursuing him, allegedly (I have no hard evidence of this) in a grudge because she had not made the SFU swim team.
Her credibility (never mind her intelligence) is in serious doubt in my mind. Her National Post columns are tripe.
Want a great laugh?
Check out the following article.

I seriously doubt her lawyers are fake
or that a columnist with a national newspaper and an internaitonal tv network has time to kill posting on chat boards.
Her website photos were definately fakes. Her head on Julia Roberts Body.
Right, Kingryder?
A nutjob. This person is indefensable. Repeatedly has lied about events in her life and her credentials.
The Fraser Institute, of all places, has a great article on what happened when she falsely claimed rape and tried to ruin a swim coach's career at SFU. Huge scandal, she was outed as a liar, and even the school president resigned in shame for supporting her:

She was also kicked off/resigned from Gurmant Grewal's election campaign for working under a false name.
Also stalked and harassed Vancouver radio personality Michael Morgan and ended up pleading to a harassment related charge.

You're right. She's too busy stalking men and making false accusations against them.
Get your head fixed.

Rachel Marsden is richer and more successful than any of you losers. Ouch!
keep up the tabloid trash talk! you're lining marsden's pockets and advertising her brand.
Looks like Rachel is vandalizing her own Wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Marsden
She even got bounced off Free Dominion for trying to sell her merchandise. One of the admins told her to buy an ad like everybody else.
re: Kerry Westcott said...
The name of the movie was Swimfan, not Swim Coach. And yes, it was based on her. The stalker in that movie is named "Madison" which sounds an awful lot like Marsden.
what a total nutcase
what a total nutcase
Love her columns, she is right on the mark when discussing left wing wackos. Some of our Libs and NDPers would fit in nicely with the Kennedys and Deans of the world. Have a nice day!!!!!
One has to wonder how people like her are allowed to breathe let along write for the Toronto Suns. I just finished reading her article on the Toronto Sun regarding compulsory military service for todays youth. I always thought conservatives supported facist ideas but after reading that I can now confirm it. Some one needs to sender back to washington were ignorance and stuipidity are tolerated!!!!
Just watched Marsden interviewed by another nutcase called O'Reilly. Any chance he might offer her a job and get this embarassment out of Canada?
Apple. Tree. Not far.
Rachel Marsden's father, Claude Arthur Marsden, found guilt of sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl.
i sent her a piece of well written hate mail regarding her confusion of the political spectrum and her oh-so-obvious emulation of that cocktail dress wearing popinjay. Her response was creepy to say the least as she evoked the name of a dead relative (why and how she obtained this info is creepy in itself). What do you call it when someone plagerizes someone else's plagerism.
An American right-winger (with the requisite bag of fallacies for the job) with a Canadian passport. Scary.
I remember reading Rachel's first website, where she describes Donnelly's foreplay style (it was non-existent).
This led to her describing her encounters in his bedroom as "painful sex."
If Mr. Donnelly is still bedding girls from his swim team, then he better have learned about foreplay.
