Losers, Liars, and Media Fellatio - More on Ed Henry

I'm amazed that a journalist is able to piss someone such as myself off every time I see them. I'm talking about Ed Henry, CNN congressional correspondent.

I've seen Bill O'Reilly a few times on TV and he hasn't even managed to anger me to such an extent, since I realize that his role is to carry the Fox network's Republicans-are-Holy Water. While Mr. O'Reilly preaches fairness and balance (yet is clearly seen through by most sane people) but obviously is a commentator and pundit, Ed Henry fulfills a boring role of congressional reporter -- something that should be rather straightforward, direct reporting and fair-and-balanced from the get-go, as opposed to what we actually get, which is Ed Henry's complete disdain for anything resembling objective-minded journalism.

Today on Lou Dobbs' show:
ED HENRY: I asked Senator Reid at this press conference about the fact that a new issue of "Rolling Stone" magazine has an interview with the senator in which the senator is asked about the fact that he recently called the president of the United States a loser. And in this interview, Senator Reid immediately told the interviewer that in fact he had also called the president a liar.

He was referring back four years ago when he said the president had lied about the Yucca Mountain situation out in Nevada. Then the interviewer said, "Well, you apologized about using the word 'loser,'" but Harry Reid in this interview said he did not apologize. He noted he had not apologized for calling the president a liar.

I asked the senator today whether or not this is going to make it more difficult to forge that kind of bipartisan compromise, if in fact he's not apologizing for calling the president a liar. Here's Senator Reid.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV), MINORITY LEADER: I know you hate to give up on that. I apologized for the "loser." I haven't for the "liar." But, you know, if -- it looks like, with all due respect to you, maybe you could come up with something else.

HENRY: But do you think it's helpful to...

REID: I've answered the question. I've answered the question.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HENRY: You can see there Senator Reid getting a little peeved at that question...
Who the f%#$ wouldn't be?

Since when are reporters sent out to demand apologies from political leaders for calling an opponent -- who in this case happens to be a proven, demonstrated liar -- a liar?

What alternate universe are we living in here?

For Ed Henry's next interview, as a perfect companion piece to this segment, I suggest he be sent to the Oval Office to report, as a historical "look back" piece, what Monica Lewinsky felt like while she was -- ahem -- performing the dirty deed. To really provide an in-depth look into presidential fellatio, Mr. Henry could pull a Rick Sanchez (the "reporter" who gets Tasered and drowned in sinking cars in order to bring "personality" and "drama" into CNN's "news" coverage) and actually physically mimic Monica's dirty deeds, for journalism's sake, of course.

"Lou, I asked President Bush if he was enjoying my services, but he, in all his righteousness and deep moral strength, denied that he was appreciative of my fellatio," Mr. Henry would report. "I asked him to call me his little Lewinsky, but he refused. This is indeed a spectacular human being."

He'd continue: "Harry Reid was wrong on all counts, for this President is neither a liar nor a loser. He does not lie about my fellatio skills, for I am admittedly quite sloppy at it, and he is not a loser, for he certainly won my heart today.

"Lou, back to you."
