I've been book-tizzagged!
This dude Aaron Braaten has just book-tagged me. Here we go..
# of books I own...
Not a huge amount. Upon quick unofficial count, I own 120 books.
Last book bought...
"Sin and Syntax" by Constantine Hale, and "Winning Modern Wars" by Wesley Clark. (On a related note, the last book I recieved as a review copy was Walter Brasch's "America's Unpatriotic Acts".)
Last book read...
"The Writing Life" by Annie Dillard.
Five books that mean a lot to me...
"1984" by George Orwell - A hell of a book, not only a fun read but can be applied to the past, present and the future as a warning and an outlook on government. Amazing how both the Right and the Left embraces this book equally.
"The Vanishing Country" by Mel Hurtig - This made me a big fan of Hurtig, and brought out a lot of pro-Canadian patriotism in me. Hurtig has done more for this country than most people realize, and this book demonstrates his love for Canada.
"The Fabric of the Cosmos" by Brian Greene - If only more people had this guy's knack for making the most complex scientific ideas understandable and somewhat entertaining.. Just a great read on a mindblowing subject.
"Slander" by Ann Coulter - A must-read guide to understanding the mind of a psycopathic propagandist. Reveals the depth to which American political discourse has fallen. One of the least-credible, worst-researched, most deliberately propagandist works ever written. Hitler himself couldn't have written such a genuine masterpiece.
"Dark Alliance" by Gary Webb - What journalism used to be. Gary Webb, an investigative journalist who fought against all odds to uncover the CIA's darkest secrets and crimes, finished off his career writing stories about video games and then committing suicide -- what a perfect metaphor for the tumble American journalism has taken in the last few decades.

Orwell. I forgot about that one. And Brave New World.
Don't think I could ever bring myself to putting a Coulter book in the "means a lot to me" category, so kudos to you.
