Six Democrats, Six Forms of
Insanity February 21 2006
Frank of course is an incredible Democrat with no understanding whatsoever of freedom and free trade. In fact, every time a person walks into a Wal-Mart to buy something made by a guy in China who makes $5 a day, he is benefiting from globalization. In fact, globalization exists precisely to benefit the Wal-Mart shopper (and others).
If globalization did not benefit consumers, it could not exist
for one-second longer. To believe that world trade does not benefit
consumers one would have to believe that one would be richer if he could
trade only in his own town, state, or country. Even a monkey can see
that, but often not the Democrats. Oh, and that unemployment is at 4.7%
indicates that trade doesn't cost jobs. And, that we suddenly have
plasma TV's, LCD TV's, DLP-TV's, iPods, PCs, DVRs, PlayStations,
XBoxes, broadband, satellite TV, cell phones, digital cameras,
Blackberries, home theaters, SUVs, big houses, TiVo, wine coolers, $200
sneakers, front loader washers, 6 burner commercial ranges, pay $6
Trillion ($20,000 for every person in the United States) in taxes that
are largely wasted, more fat people than thin people, and more cars than
registered drivers should make us thank God for global trade and live in
fear that people like Barney Frank walk among us. Yes, some people riot
in the streets questioning the legitimacy of global trade -- but they are
just Democrats.
Moreover, if Bin Laden is in Pakistan, as
suspected, it is doubtful that if even if every soldier that was in Iraq
was in Afghanistan it would do one little thing to improve the
possibility of getting Bin Laden in Pakistan, where our troops are not
allowed. It is quite obvious that everyone directly working on getting
him would dearly love to be the hero to finally get one of the greatest
villains since Hitler. We can assume the effort is maximum, and that if
Bin Laden were 7' 5" it would make no difference whatsoever, except to
Hillary. As a Republican, I hope the Democrats continue to come out of
the closet, like Joel Stein did in the LA Times, to say that it is
hypocritical for the Democrats to pretend to support the troops but not
support what the troops do. It seems removing a Hitler-like figure and
giving the gift of Democracy in Iraq is just a laugh line for Hillary
and the Democrats.
In the end, surprise, Iran
was thumbing its nose at the cowardly and impotent UN/European alliance
all along. And in the end only the Republican American military can
prevent terrorists and terrorist countries from getting WMD. Howard
Dean, the Democrats, the UN, and the Europeans should stay the hell out
of the way before they get us all killed. The cowardly Secretary was afraid to say, "of course the government is incompetent, you idiot. A monopoly will always be incompetent because it has no reason not to be. Why do you think communism failed? Why do you think the Europeans have a 39% lower standard of living? Why do you think FDR gave us 10 years of depression and 5 years of world war?"
A newly-brave Secretary might also have said,
"Congressman Rangel, if you think government is so competent, rather than let
Ford and GM go bankrupt why not have the government take them over and
establish a bureaucracy to run them through your committee? In fact, you
can be the senior vice president of quality control. The Japanese will
never know what hit them." He said, "when you talk to Republicans they scream 'socialism' or 'price fixing'. We should not worry about ideology, we should just get our citizens affordable drugs." For those who missed Economics 101 or studied it under a socialist professor who never looked out his window, "single payer" socialist price fixing does not work because:
The USSR
tried to make socialist price fixing work for 50 years, with the
encouragement of most American economists, most notably Paul Samuelson
who taught three generations of American college kids that the Soviet
Union could sustain rates of growth greater than ours. In the end the
truth was that they had about 10% the growth we had, and never produced
one single consumer product innovation. That is why the Congressman
wants us to forget about the ideology of Socialism. The insane assumption of the book is that God is a leftist, socialist, progressive obviously opposed to the tyranny of market values. Among his proposals is that every ten years a corporation can have its charter renewed only if it demonstrates to a jury that it is a socially valuable business. Again, the simple truth is that the USSR, Communist China, Cuba, and to a lesser extent, Europe, failed because they interfered with the freedom of businesses and consumers to make voluntary market decisions.
A social
jury would function exactly like the politburo: stupid bureaucratic
guessing would take the place of millions of efficient, expert decisions
made by consumers determining for themselves how best to advance their
own their own standard of living. The idea that consumers are stupid,
business doesn't live and die by serving their customers, and that
socialist bureaucrats are loving souls who know best is an idea that
only Lerner, Hillary, and Castro could love. If you think Hillary is
moving to the center, ask Rabbi Lerner. == Ted Baiamonte is author of "Understanding the Difference Between Democrats and Republicans". His blog is The Dumb Democrat, and he can be reached at bje1000@aol.com. |
