Not Another Dime! Dems Don't
Deserve My Donation, Yet January 27 2006 Don’t send the Democrats another cent, folks! When they solicit you for donations to contribute to a campaign, read my lips… just say, “NO!” Why waste the money? I know you want to help. So do I. But until the Democrats in the House and Senate start acting like an opposition party and stop being the party of acquiescence, you should stop all funding. Make them earn your contribution… before you contribute. If you’re like me and contributed to the Kerry-Edwards campaign in 2004, you probably thought you were putting your money on a sure winner. How could they lose when they were running against the worst president ever? Surely, if there were going to be any electoral shenanigans Kerry and Edwards would stand up and fight. After all, we had the war hero and the people’s lawyer on our side running against the draft-dodging corporate thugs that have run this country over the cliff. Of course, Kerry and Edwards did not do as promised and fight for every voter who voted. Kerry caved. Never mind that there were all kinds of evidence that warranted an investigation into election malfeasance. That’s not to say that some Democrats didn’t take up the charge – namely John Conyers – that Kerry should have. But Conyers wasn’t running for President of the United States, John Kerry was. I still receive emails, as I’m sure many of you do soliciting my donation. My answer is and forever will be “Hell No!” until the Democrats get a spine. I believe this is the only way we have left to be heard rather than had. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, the same way each time, yet expecting a different outcome. How do they earn it, Doug? I’m glad you asked. In a word, impeachment. And I’m not talking about just George W. Bush, I’m talking about the whole Bush Administration! Of course, the right-wing talk machine will say, “The Democrats are just expressing sour grapes.” No, sour grapes would be if the Democrats persecuted George W. Bush for getting the Lewinsky treatment from Jeff Gannon. Receiving oral sex from an intern – or planted reporter – and lying about it, no matter how immoral it may be to some people, is hardly a high crime and/or misdemeanor. Lying the country into war, illegally wiretapping citizens, systematically taking away the rights and freedoms we cherish – while claiming to defend them, no less – running up huge deficits while giving tax-cuts to the people who have actually have the money to pay taxes, bribery and corruption, and let’s not forget the war crimes… and that’s only a small fraction of the truly high crimes committed by the Bush Administration. But the Media will echo that the Democrats aren’t being fairAnother thing that the Democrats can do is stop apologizing for speaking truth to power about the corruptness and ineptitude of the Bush Administration. Stop backing off the brave comments of people like Rep. John Murtha and DNC Chairman Howard Dean. Just because the Republicans cry fowl because the truth is spoken and the Media echoes the criticism, doesn’t mean you should back off, Democrats. Why can’t your response be, “Hey, the truth hurts”? And don’t let Kerry deliver the message because that simple statement coming from him would be about a paragraph long! The best way for the Democrats to handle the Media is with truculence. The Media doesn’t have near the credibility it had before Bush. It is obvious that their sole purpose is to echo Republican talking points. Part of the problem for Democrats is that they are too busy playing nice with the Republicans and their echo chamber – the Media. Why? I guess it’s like a battered wife that continues to go back to her abusive husband. So how can we help? Okay, so you want to help. It’s only natural and it’s habit forming. It’s called co-dependence. I think I have a solution. You want to send something that will help the Democrats? Here it is in a few easy steps. Go to the hardware store. Purchase a pair of brass balls. Mail the pair to the Democrat of your choice and inform him/her that this is your contribution to his/her campaign. Include a letter explaining that these are to replace the set he/she obviously checked at the door when he/she entered the Senate or House. Also remind him/her that the job they were elected to do was in the service of the people – not the corporations and special interests. Remember, their job is not getting re-elected, it’s working for the people who elected them in the first place. |
