All Options On The
Table August 29
2005 All options are on the table… or under the table, as the case may be. But then anyone who “plays” the stock market, like Dick Cheney, would know all about exercising options – particularly when those options concern oil futures and such like. A century ago, it was a dream dear to many a British Imperialist – a “Cape to Cairo” railroad – a modern marvel that would link together a continent. Cecil Rhodes and others of similar bent, imagined traveled the length of Africa without ever leaving British Territory. Of course, this was never to be – poor Mr. Rhodes had to make due with a couple of southern African territories that bore his name. Today, we call them Zimbabwe and Zaire… but the memory of Colonialism lingers on. While few African countries today would so much as oil the gears of the Neocon Machine, a glance at the modern map does offer possibilities. No doubt the Vice President is aware that petroleum-rich Iran lies exactly in between Iraq and Afghanistan – the two nations that the United States has so recently, and so generously, started on the road to “freedom.” Yet Freedom, like gas-guzzling SUV’s, needs a constant supply of fresh fuel. The fire will go out if you don’t keep fanning the flames. In an automobile’s internal combustion engine, the spark needed to explode the gasoline comes from a little electric plug. Combustion on the world political stage is achieved by one word – TERROR. Pat Buchanan's magazine, American Conservative, has reported that Dick Cheney is planning for a possible invasion of Iran. The ever-thoughtful vice president has tasked the Department of Defense with developing a plan that involves the use of tactical nuclear weapons in addition to conventional arms. Furthermore, a full-out invasion of Iran is contingent on one thing, and one thing only, and that is another 9/11 type event striking the United States. Of course, it does not matter whether Iran is actually involved in this 9/11 type event. When has cause and effect ever been a concern of the Bush Administration? Much as George W. Bush can change rationales for the Iraq War as frequently as he can flash smirks, so too will the Great and Pious Leader have no trouble at all in mouthing the necessary excuses for another conflict. Yes, Satan will move on, finding a new home somewhere in the ancient land of the Persians. And just as Americans were reminded of Saddam’s erstwhile atrocities during the run up to the last war, so too will they be reminded of Khomeini and all the fiendish ayatollahs; of the American hostages, and Iran’s role in this terror plot or that fanatical scheme. The Rove State always knows the Rogue State. Necessarily, this administration’s own Rogue’s Gallery will be pulling every trick in order to achieve its aims of absolute and complete petro-domination. Much as before Napoleon Bush delivered his first ultimatum to Saddam Hussein, the calumnies will begin, the charges will fly, and the American Public will be scared out of its shopping malls and subways by the Iranian menace. War too will wipe clean the slate of all the attacks and the criticisms. The Media will fall back into line, knuckle under to their adored Commander-and-Chief, and refrain from all questioning. Or, so runs the Bushian Dream. But, if the American People can be made to see; to understand that George Bush is not the Prince of Light, but something far more sinister… if only they can see that religion has been turned upside down – like the cross in the Black Mass – perhaps then all will realize that we have been deceived. Maybe America will not sell itself for a few barrels of oil; drink itself under the table with the intoxication of misguided (and carefully directed) self-righteousness; while in plain sight… on the table… George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and all their oily pals are divvying up the profits from their latest “killing.” Oil’s well that ends well!
