Don King's Bush Love Can Only Help Democrats

The Republican Party seems to think that black people are devoid of any sense of decency or critical thought.

Bush's Party believes that putting former boxing promoter and menace to society Don King on television screaming “George Walker Bush four more years, George Walker Bush four more years!”, will somehow bring in black Republican votes. The Republicans have even paired him with the goofiest whiteboy in America, Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie. Look for this America-loving duo of racially harmonized Bush love coming to a city or TV screen near you as they partake in a joyous cross-country tour.

According to an AP story, RNC spokesperson Tara Wall actually called Mr. King a "patriot." Why of course, he's a Republican!...not to mention, the lone African-American aching to tell other African-Americans how much George W. Bush and Ed Gillespie just love 'em.

"Where have you see a Republican chairman standing up with us in the heart of the ghetto? We're going to talk about how we can make that change, to educate and uplift and enlighten our people”, King told reporters.

(To answer King's question: nowhere. No Republican chairman has yet stood up in "the heart of the ghetto", as Ed Gillespie is still alive. So what's Don King saying? Who really knows?)

When asked by CNN’s Anderson Cooper how exactly President Bush is reaching out to Don King’s “people” (presumably ordinary black folks), Mr. King offered up a thoughtless, tired answer, conjuring up the names Condoleeza and Colin—and nothing else.

So African-Americans are supposed to vote Bush-Cheney because of the possibility that one day they too can work as lying shills for the party of white fat-cat corporatism—just like Ms. Rice and Mr. Powell.

When Don King waves his little American flags in his own deranged manner, shouting “four more years!”—He is speaking directly to you, Black America. Vote Republican, for you can dream about one day lying for Bush and his corrupt administration.

Other than that, reasons why blacks—or anyone not filthy richwould even consider voting Bush remain few and far between.

Clearly, Republicans will do anything to pander to African-Americans (of whom they garner almost no support, for good reason), and marching out Don King to represent their newfound pro-Black attitude is one of the most glaring examples. Republicans, who pride themselves on their moral clarity and holier-than-thou attitudes, could certainly pick a better person to represent their Afro-political side.

I’ll let a Canadian Press article summarize Bush’s apparent new spokesman for African-American issues:

“King's rap sheet makes him an odd choice for Bush's front man. He was convicted in the 1967 beating death of a man who owed him money and spent nearly four years in prison. In 1954, he killed a man who was robbing a numbers house he operated in Cleveland…King also has beaten tax evasion and fraud charges, faced numerous lawsuits from boxers and their handlers and endured three grand jury investigations and an FBI sting operation”.

An odd choice for Bush’s front man? Undoubtedly. And one that will only serve to further show African-Americans that Republicans are the wrong choice.

Using Don King as a prop to hoist up the Republicans black-vote aspirations would be like Democrats parading Gary Busey around to attract Caucasian voters (“I would like to give you a backstage pass to my imagination so vote Kerry now!” or “"Let me tell you this: All men are failed women at birth.—four years for Kerry! Four years for Kerry!”).

All in all, Don King can only hurt Bush and help the Democrats. Common knowledge suggests that the RNC has their political machinery in gear, yet they for some reason didn’t only accept King—they fondled him into the fold. As the RNC excitedly takes is last few gasps for the votes of those they won’t be able to scrub off the voter rolls this year, the remainder of America laughs and wonders if this really is just a satirical performance put on by Ed Gillespie and his newfound friend.

So, African-Americans, even if Republicans claim that they’re the party to best represent your interests, while patronizing you by throwing obnoxious, flag-waving Don King in your face, they offer nothing of substance. Plasma TVs and X-Box games in their thuggishly-titled “Reggie The Registration Rig”, along with the face of Don King and his inspiring-albeit-empty words like “educate”, “uplift”, “enlighten” and “our people”, are all that the Republican Party can offer you.

Black Americans are smarter than the general American population when it comes to choices made at the voting booth. They won’t be fooled by Don King, Ed Gillespie and the Republicans’ ridiculous pandering.
